So, it’s been a while. Life happens, work happens, and before you know it, it’s been another 18 months inbetween blog posts. Starting over, from the beginning: I’m a 45-year-old life sciences engineer with 23 years of professional experience. My journey in engineering has been both challenging and rewarding, and I’m excited to share my story, insights, and the wisdom I’ve gathered along the way with you.
A Bit About My Life
I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for nearly 20 years, and together we have three incredible daughters—10-year-old triplets who bring joy, chaos, and endless adventure to our lives. Our family wouldn’t be complete without our three meathead cats (Squeakers, Elliott, and Donut) and our loyal-to-a-fault cocker spaniel (the Daisy dog, below), who keep us entertained and on our toes.
My Professional Journey
With over two decades in the engineering field, I’ve seen the landscape evolve and grow. My career in life sciences engineering has allowed me to work on fascinating projects and make significant contributions to the industry. Throughout my journey, I’ve gathered a wealth of knowledge and a collection of tips and tricks that I’m eager to share with fellow engineers and enthusiasts.
Why I Blog

- Professional Insights: From industry trends to practical advice, I’ll delve into topics that matter to life sciences engineers. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, there’s something here for you.
- Work-Life Management: Balancing a demanding career with family life is no small feat. I’ll share strategies and tips that have helped me navigate this journey, hoping they might help you too.
- Advocacy for Equity: As a woman in a predominantly male field, I’m passionate about advocating for equity in engineering. I’ll discuss the challenges women face and highlight steps we can take to create a more inclusive and supportive environment.
- Nerdy Topics: Let’s not forget the fun stuff! I’ll dive into nerdy topics and projects that I find fascinating, from cutting-edge technologies to quirky engineering feats. If you’re a fellow nerd at heart, you’ll feel right at home.
